VACANCY FOR A PARISH COUNCILLOR
Due to the resignation of Councillor T Fryer there is a vacancy for a Councillor for the Stoke sub Hamdon ward of Stoke-sub-Hamdon Parish Council.
If, within 14 days after the date of this notice, requests for an election to fill the said vacancies is made in writing to the Chief Executive, Electoral Services, Somerset Council, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT by TEN electors for the said Stoke sub Hamdon Ward, an election will be held to fill the said vacancies, otherwise the vacancies will be filled by the Parish Council by co-option.

The civil parish of Stoke sub Hamdon includes East Stoke, West Stoke and the main settlement of Stoke itself. Around 2,500 residents live in the parish situated 5 miles west of the market town of Yeovil in South Somerset. A recent change in local government abolished the district councils and was replaced by Somerset Council who maintain services such as planning/highways, Adult and Children's services. The Parish Council provide a large well equipped recreation ground and a youth centre which are managed by trusts. The council of 11 members meets on the first Wednesday of the month at the Parish Council offices located at the Council Office, North Street Workshops.
